Television Pilot - Sci-Fi Series

A humble, naive, uneducated Salvadorian peasant leaves his mother and pregnant sister in El Salvador and heads to the USA (Washington D.C.) in search for a better life. Four of his peasant friends who had left a year earlier, kept sending him letters and pictures of themselves enjoying an opulent lifestyle.

When he arrives, he discovers his friends had been lying to him and, in reality, were working menial jobs to sustain themselves. Out of guilt, they get Mariano a cleaning job at the same building where they work.

The first night at his new job, Mariano is sent to clean the 12th. floor, a Lab where the US government has been conducting Artificial Intelligence Experiments. Mariano is mesmerized by all the computers and scientific equipment and can't resist a closer look. When he tries on the helmet, he unwittingly sets off a data transfer. The process leaves him shaken and scared, but with no immediately visible physical or mental damage.

As time goes by, however, Mariano discovers that nothing is the same. Although outwardly the same, under certain circumstances he finds he possesses seemingly unlimited knowledge and physical prowess.

In the mean time, the scientists in charge of the project realize that someone has tampered with the equipment and has either deliberately or accidentally run the transfer program successfully. Fearing exposure, loss of their project, or worse, they start to investigate. One possibility is, of course, the cleaning crew with its nightly access to the facilities. But even then, was it simple curiosity or international espionage? Desperate to get to the truth and locate the recipient of the data transfer, they hire an Hispanic private detective

In weekly episodes, Mariano, with Det. Ochoa on his trail, becomes involved in community problems, such as discrimination. gang warfare, spousal abuse and police brutality. His character, with its unlikely combination of innocence, naiveté and sophisticated intelligence will touch your heart and entertain your mind.
